What is Life Sciences Regulatory and Compliance work?

Our Life Sciences and Healthcare sector lawyers advise clients across three core sub‑sectors:

  • the biotech and pharmaceuticals space, supporting companies developing and marketing medicinal products and advanced therapies;
  • the digital health and medtech industries, working with innovative device, in vitro diagnostic, software and health data‑driven companies; and
  • the healthcare sector, including service providers, industry associations, investors and stakeholders shaping the delivery of patient care.

Within our Regulatory and Compliance service line, we help these clients navigate the fast‑evolving EU and national frameworks that govern their industries. Our work covers both strategic compliance and hands‑on regulatory support – advising on how to obtain and maintain market approvals, ensure product quality, manage cross‑border operations, and build robust engagement strategies with authorities and business partners.

In a specialist and growing team, you will work on Regulatory and Compliance matters throughout the entire lifecycle of healthcare products: from early‑stage research and clinical investigations, to marketing authorisations, CE‑marking and other conformity assessments, through to manufacturing, distribution, promotion, and product liability. You’ll contribute to the design and implementation of quality management systems (QMS) and good practices (GxP), guide ethical interactions with healthcare professionals, organisations and patient associations, and represent clients before European regulators, national authorities and trade bodies.

You’ll also work closely with Osborne Clarke’s integrated international Life Sciences and Healthcare group on multi‑jurisdictional Regulatory and Compliance mandates. Our approach is pragmatic, collaborative and forward‑looking – delivering concrete, business‑oriented solutions aligned with the rapidly transforming landscape of EU life sciences regulation, from sustainability and AI to new digital health frameworks.
